November is stacked with some pretty amazing family-friendly shows happening on the Eastside, so I thought I’d do a little round up so you have them all in one place!
- Back to the Future: The Musical at Detroit Opera House | October 28-November 9 – Marty McFly & Doc Brown make some music magic in this Broadway Musical based on the original 1985 film. While family-friendly, this one is recommended for ages 10+.
- Sesame Street Live! at The Fox Theatre | November 9 – Elmo and friends are headed to the Fox Theatre for two adorable shows where kids and families can sing and dance along in this interactive performance.
- A Christmas Story: The Musical at The Fox Theatre | November 14-16 – Another great eighties film-turned-musical, A Christmas Story: The Musical is a great way to get ready for the holidays while getting a good laugh and strong dose of nostalgia.
- Grosse Pointe Theatre Presents Beetlejuice, Jr. at Parcells Middle School | November 14-16 – Grosse Pointe Theatre’s Youth on Stage program is bringing this slightly spooky but very silly show to Parcells Auditorium in Grosse Pointe for three shows this November, including a sensory-friendly performance on November 16 at 1pm.
- Gabby’s Dollhouse Live! at Fox Theatre | November 23 – If you’ve seen the movie and are looking for even more Gabby’s Dollhouse, grab a few tickets to this adorable live show coming to the Fox Theatre on November 23!
- Billy Goats Gruff and Other Tales at Music Hall Detroit | November 24 – Sadly for me, my family already has plans on the day of this show or else we’d be first in line for tickets. Lucky for you, there’s still time to get yours for this production of Mermaid Theatre’s sweet retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff that focuses less on villains and more on the friendships and experiences that the main characters (a raccoon and a mouse) find along the way.
If you head out to any of these shows, have a total blast and let us know what you think!
