This weekend on the Eastside Christmas Tree Lightings abound, the Museum of Illusions opens up, and amazing light installations kick off. Plus, a great month of live shows continues, Mount Clemens celebrates fifty years of their annual Santa Parade, and there are multiple ways to celebrate the release of Wicked: For Good. Read on for the details!

As always, these are just some of the extra special one-off events happening in the area. In addition to these, there are so many sweet library offerings, open play opportunities at local museums and businesses, fun and educational events at our local nature centers and more. Lucia at Hudson’s Detroit

Catch a Tree Lighting CeremonyDetroit, Grosse Pointe, Mount Clemens and The War Memorial all have incredible celebrations planned throughout the weekend with special characters, horse-drawn trolley rides, hot cocoa, story times, and lots more.

Take in some holiday lights Candyland at Beacon Park & Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo both kick off this weekend (Beacon Park on Friday and the Zoo on Saturday) and will be great options for some festive light viewing! As an FYI, Candyland at Beacon Park is a free, walk through installation open to the public, but Wild Lights does require tickets and registration!

Watch the 50th Annual Mount Clemens Santa Parade – Mount Clemens is celebrating fifty years of Christmas Magic on Main Street and you can join in on the fun! Beginning at 10am on Saturday morning, the Parade runs down Main Street, starting at Church Street and ending six blocks north at Clinton Street.

Visit the new Museum of Illusions in downtown Detroit! – The MOI opens up on Friday, 11/21 right on Woodward in downtown Detroit! Plus you can save 20% on all tickets through December 21st as part of their Grand Opening celebration.

Celebrate the release of Wicked: For Good: If you need a little more Oz-themed fun this weekend after seeing the new Wicked movie, you can catch an All-Ages Wicked Movie Matinee! at Harrison Township Public Library, do a fun Oz-themed scavenger hunt with Questo in Detroit, or take it way back with The Wiz at the DIA.

Get Vintage Holiday Portraits done at POST Francis & Louise Photography is popping up at POST this weekend for an adorable vintage (1950s-60s) portrait shoot. Sessions are 20 minutes long, for up to six people, and are $300. You can still find available spots to book on Saturday and Sunday!

Go to the Theatre! Again! – Catch the last weekend of Frozen the Musical, enjoy Gabby’s Dollhouse Live! at The Fox Theatre, or head to Billy Goats Gruff & Other Tales at Music Hall Detroit on Sunday afternoon.
