Shiver on the River @ Belle Isle
It’s a Belle Isle eco fair!! Enjoy fun, educational activities throughout the island — and at the Belle Isle Nature Center!
Join us for Shiver on the River, a cherished annual tradition on Belle Isle! We’re partnering with community organizations across the island to bring you the ultimate winter celebration.
This family-friendly event features engaging activities for all ages, designed to teach you about our natural resources while having fun. Don’t miss this exciting day of exploration and learning. Come and create warm memories on Belle Isle this winter! Admission to all activities is completely free. Food concessions will also be available for cash purchase. Shiver on the River is hosted in partnership with the Friends of the Detroit River, the Detroit Historical Society, the Detroit Bird Alliance and the Belle Isle Nature Center.

What to expect throughout Shiver on the River:
- The opportunity to engage with local partners at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum who lead environmental education, outreach, and advocacy throughout the Detroit area.

9 a.m. to noon — Belle Isle Winter Birding Caravan* (176 Lakeside Dr., Detroit, MI 48207)
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Indoor Eco Fair at Great Lakes Dossin Museum (100 The Strand, Detroit, MI 48207)
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Indoor and Outdoor Eco Fair at Belle Isle Nature Center (176 Lakeside Dr., Detroit, MI 48207)
