Please join us as “Baba” Kefentse Chike and Michelle “Jahra” McKinney take us on a musical journey!

Drumlorist “Baba” Kefentse Chike is a native Detroiter and key figure in Detroit’s African drum and dance community. Dr. “Baba” Kefentse has served the Detroit community for more than 33 years as an African drummer, composer, lecturer, teacher and community activist.

Michelle “Jahra” McKinney is a featured vocalist and percussionist for In the Tradition. Michelle is a multi-talented performance artist, who has worked for more than three decades in the Detroit community as a vocalist, lyricist, storyteller, oral historian, percussionist and producer of educational programming.
