SUMMARY:Storytime: This is Taco! @ Ford House
DESCRIPTION:Storytime: This is Taco!\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for Storytime at Ford House\, a free program designed to inspire young imaginations! Perfect for children aged 7 and under\, this weekly event features engaging children’s books read by our education team\, paired with a fun\, interactive activity inspired by the story. Each month highlights a new book\, blending the magic of storytelling with hands-on experiences that encourage creativity\, curiosity\, and a connection to the natural world. Every session offers a unique opportunity for little ones to learn\, laugh\, and grow from crafting to exploring. \n\n\n\n\n\nBook of the Month\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a Taco!\nThis is a squirrel . . . “Hey\, I may be a squirrel\, but my name is Taco! And I don’t eat nuts and tree bark—blech—I prefer tacos!” The natural predator of squirrels is . . . “Whoa\, whoa\, whoa! Who is writing this book? I do not like where this is going.” This hilarious send-up of a children’s nature primer teaches kids that the most important story is the one you write yourself. \nImage Source

SUMMARY:HORSE: A Game for Everyone @ 1001 Woodward
DESCRIPTION:Library Street Collective is excited to announce HORSE: A Game for Everyone by artist Tyrrell Winston\, supported by Bedrock Detroit. Opening to the public on August 1\, 2025\, this dynamic installation transforms the boundaries between sport\, art\, and community participation. \nHORSE reimagines the basketball court as a site of creativity\, memory\, and public engagement. Inspired by Winston’s signature use of found and culturally charged materials\, this interactive experience invites visitors to engage with art through motion\, reflection\, and play. Central to the installation is a sculptural “hoop tree” that reimagines the familiar form of the basketball hoop into a sprawling\, seven-armed tree supporting 21 hoops at varying heights\, angles\, and orientations. Part monument\, part playground\, the work invites direct engagement\, encouraging visitors to step into the space\, pick up a ball\, and play. \nImage Source
