DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, August 16\, 2025\, downtown Mount Clemens will host the 5th annual Macomb County Pride Festival featuring a Street Fair on Main Street\, performances on a main stage near the intersection of New Street and Main Street\, family-friendly Young Human Zone\, and additional youth-focused entertainment. Macomb County Pride celebrates and empowers the region’s LGBTQ+ community through this family- and pet-friendly Pride Festival\, and by offering participatory opportunities to local groups and organizations to highlight their support and resources available to the LGBTQ+ community in Macomb County. Macomb County Pride is a nonprofit organization with a mission to create a supportive environment for the LGBTQ+ community and to be a resource in Macomb County. \nWith attendance estimated at about 5\,000 people\, our 2024 Pride Festival was well received by the community. With more than 70 vendors\, nonstop performances\, visits from elected officials\, Drag Queen Story Time hosted by the Mount Clemens Public Library\, and a Children’s Activity Area\, we are proud of the growth the festival has experienced and looking forward to an even bigger and more celebratory event this year! \nDue to a planned downtown construction project\, this year’s Festival–Loud and Proud–will be held primarily on Main Street in downtown Mount Clemens\, between Macomb Place and Market Street. \nImage Source

Inspired by Winston’s signature use of found and culturally charged materials\, this interactive experience invites visitors to engage with art through motion\, reflection\, and play. Central to the installation is a sculptural “hoop tree” that reimagines the familiar form of the basketball hoop into a sprawling\, seven-armed tree supporting 21 hoops at varying heights\, angles\, and orientations. The Learning Express: Astronomy is a high-energy\, interactive performance that introduces the audience to the planets\, the North Star\, and the changing seasons using the power of hip-hop and jazz. Created by Kris Johnson and Ozay Moore\, and originally curated by Damien Crutcher and Progressions Inc.\, this program was designed to support academic learning in elementary schools across Inkster\, Pontiac\, and Detroit. \nJoin from 10:00—11:00am for hands-on activities before the concert. \nSensory-friendly events are designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and with other sensory sensitivities. Our culture can be unforgiving if you’re unable to conform to the standard concert etiquette of quietly sitting still for extended periods. This excludes individuals who are unable to sit still or who may express emotions such as joy or excitement through vocalization. This sensory-friendly concert aims to remove barriers\, allowing everyone to be themselves and enjoy a musical experience in a safe and judgement-free environment. \nYour experience includes:\n• Limited audience size for reduced crowds;\n• A sensory toolkit with noise-cancelling headphones and fidgets for use during the rehearsal (limited number available);\n• Quiet Space to take a break;\n• Pre-concert activities from 10-11 a.m.\, including an instrument exploration station – this is your chance to get up close to hold\, touch\, and play some of the instruments you’ll see being played onstage;\n• Complimentary parking;\n• Trained DSO staff members – the Mid-Michigan Autism Association has provided training to our staff to help them better understand the characteristics of autism and how to better communicate with someone with autism;\n• Resources to help you prepare for the event\, including an information guide\, social story\, and an opportunity to preview the music. \nImage Source
