SUMMARY:E. Warrenfest @ 16835 E. Warren
DESCRIPTION:E. WarrenFest is a community-driven street festival that activates the East Warren corridor with live art installations\, musical performances\, culinary showcases\, and curated retail experiences. The festival embodies the mission of Detroit Month of Design and the Gilbert Family Foundation’s Arts & Culture Initiative by celebrating place-based creativity\, amplifying local talent\, and creating inclusive public spaces that reflect Detroit’s design legacy and community identity. \nE. WarrenFest turns a commercial street into a creative canvas\, aligning with Detroit Month of Design’s commitment to equity\, community impact\, and inclusive design by centering Detroit-based artists\, designers\, and small businesses—particularly Black and Brown entrepreneurs. \nThe festival also reflects the Gilbert Family Foundation’s focus on arts as a tool for neighborhood revitalization and economic opportunity. E. WarrenFest invests directly in local creatives\, provides paid opportunities for performance and exhibition\, and strengthens the cultural fabric of Detroit’s Eastside—a historically under-resourced area undergoing grassroots revitalization. \nIn short\, E. WarrenFest bridges design\, community\, and commerce—bringing together residents\, artists\, and small business owners to collectively shape the identity and future of their neighborhood through culture and creativity. \nImage Source

SUMMARY:HORSE: A Game for Everyone @ 1001 Woodward
DESCRIPTION:Library Street Collective is excited to announce HORSE: A Game for Everyone by artist Tyrrell Winston\, supported by Bedrock Detroit. Opening to the public on August 1\, 2025\, this dynamic installation transforms the boundaries between sport\, art\, and community participation. \nHORSE reimagines the basketball court as a site of creativity\, memory\, and public engagement. Inspired by Winston’s signature use of found and culturally charged materials\, this interactive experience invites visitors to engage with art through motion\, reflection\, and play. Central to the installation is a sculptural “hoop tree” that reimagines the familiar form of the basketball hoop into a sprawling\, seven-armed tree supporting 21 hoops at varying heights\, angles\, and orientations. Part monument\, part playground\, the work invites direct engagement\, encouraging visitors to step into the space\, pick up a ball\, and play. \nImage Source

SUMMARY:Storytime: Iggy Peck\, Architect @ Ford House
DESCRIPTION:Storytime: Iggy Peck\, Architect\n\n\n\n\nThis September\, join Ford House and our friends at Bricks of Hope for a joyful\, hands-on Storytime adventure! Each week\, we’ll share Iggy Peck\, Architect by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts—a delightful tale about a young dreamer who turns his passion for building into something extraordinary. \nAfter the story\, it’s time to get creative! Bricks of Hope will lead children in designing their own wild and wonderful structures\, using building bricks to stretch their imaginations and spark new ideas. \n\n\n\n\nBook of the Month\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIggy Peck\, Architect\nIggy has one passion: architecture. His parents are proud of his fabulous creations\, though they’re sometimes surprised by his materials. But hey! What’s wrong with a tower built of diapers? (Even dirty ones!) Picture Dear Ig has it made until second grade. That’s when he meets his match. His teacher\, Miss Lila Greer\, frons upon architecture. Banned from building in school\, second grade becomes a bore until one day a fateful field trip lets Iggy Peck show the world his true talents! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBricks of Hope\n\n\n\n\nBricks of Hope is a nonprofit that brings smiles to children facing serious illness by delivering new LEGO® sets during their hospital stays. Throughout the month of September\, Ford House will be collecting donations of new\, unopened LEGO® sets of all sizes and for all age groups. Every donated set will be shared with a child at a Michigan hospital\, helping to brighten their day through the power of play. \nWe’re proud to partner with Bricks of Hope in support of their inspiring mission—and we’d love your help. \nHere’s how you can join in: \n\nCome to Storytime any Tuesday in September to enjoy the story and activity (same book each week).\nBring a new\, unopened LEGO® set to donate if you wish to contribute.\nStay to play\, build\, and connect!\n\nThis free\, family-friendly program is perfect for children ages 7 and under. Storytime takes place in a relaxed\, welcoming environment that encourages creativity and exploration. \nCome build with us\, and share in the joy of giving back!
