Eastside Gem: Detroit Abloom
Welcome to the Eastside Gem series! This series aims to highlight the unique, fun, and beautifully interesting parks, businesses, and professionals that we’re lucky to have nearby. As a reminder, Eastside Kids serves the eastern side of Metro Detroit, and includes cities and townships along I-94 from Detroit up to Mount Clemens.

Our first installment is a location that’s near and dear to my heart, and was such a haven for me in early postpartum days as a Michigan transplant missing home. Detroit Abloom is an urban oasis located in the heart of the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood that features a sprawling wellness garden, a no-spray cut flower garden, community garden plots, a children’s area, and a pavilion that hosts a variety of wellness events throughout the year. The lush grounds offer multiple winding paths filled with native plants, secret fountains, and sweet hideaways. Kids Abloom, the children’s area features a music stage and wall, a slide, swing, and a scavenger hunt.

In addition to the wellness programs they host throughout the year like Community Yoga, Sound Baths, and Summer Dinner Series (oh, and our own Eastside Kids x Broadway Babies pop-ups in the summer!), Detroit Abloom hosts other garden-wide events that are a total treat, including Vegan Fest, Dahlia Fest, and Detroit Abloom Socials. You can find their complete calendar on their website.

If you’re looking for a natural wonderland to wander through with (or without) your little one, Detroit Abloom is a perfect (free!) spot to pop in and explore for a while. And if you’re feeling a little hungry pre or post visit, I highly recommend another Eastside Gem: Coriander Kitchen & Farm, just up the road!
Happy Exploring. <3
