Earth Day is April 22nd, but you can celebrate Mother Earth all month long with these fun events happening in and around the Eastside!

Greenfest at Belle Isle Nature Center | April 12-13 – Pop into the Belle Isle Nature the same weekend for some sustainable crafting, presentations from local sustainability groups, educational activities, and outdoor fun!

Greenfest at The Detroit Zoo | April 12-13 – Enjoy live music, educational opportunities, animal fun, and a marketplace at the Zoo! You can also bring old or unwanted electronics as part of their Annual E-Recycling event and earn a free Zoo ticket.

Second Saturdays: Earth Day Explorers at The War Memorial | April 12 – Crafts, Clay Modeling, and a special presentation by Think Green: A Healthy Planet Show is a fun way to celebrate and learn about the environment in Grosse Pointe.

Drop-In Studio: Make a Terrarium! at Ford House | April 12 – Get your hands a little dirty and make a fun craft at Ford House while learning about sustainability and the environment. While supplies last, so get there early!

Great Lakes Day at The Discovery Center | April 12 – Celebrate our beautiful Great Lakes (that also happen to contain the largest supply of fresh water on earth) with fun educational activities at The Discovery Center in Mount Clemens.

2025 Spring Clean Up at Dequindre Cut | April 19 – If you’ve got a little who loves to pick up trash at every turn (hi, it’s me), join fellow nature lovers and help remove litter on the Dequindre Cut and surrounding greenways. Check out their site for check in locations and parking info.

Earth Day Celebration: Stories, Seed Bombs, and Snacks at Spindler Park & Veterans Memorial Park | April 22 – The Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe is helping the community celebrate Earth Day with some of the best S’s: Stories, Seed Bombs, and Snacks, at both Spindler and Veterans Memorial Parks.

Earth Day Plein Air Painting at Gabriel Richard Park | April 22 – Following an inspirational walk around Gabriel Richard Park, you’ll be provided with a canvas and paints (or you can bring your own!) to create your own nature-inspired masterpiece.

Earth Day Crafts at DNR Outdoor Adventure Center | April 23 – Included with the cost of admission, this is a fun and crafty way to celebrate Earth Day.

Grow Your Garden: Planting Seeds & Connection at The Wright Museum | April 26 – Celebrate “sustainability, creativity, and community” while crafting, checking out the seed and tool swap, and taking in a workshop or two on composting, gardening, and other sustainable practices.

Earth Day Clean Up: Art in the Trees, Fairy Forest Trash and Treasure Hunt at Palmer Park | April 27 – Do good while having fun! Enjoy crafts, live music, art in the trees, and a search for hidden fairy doors all while cleaning up and making Palmer Park sparkle.

In addition to these great events, you can check out the nature-inspired educational activities like Little Critters at Lake St. Clair Metropark, Nature Tots at Belle Isle Nature Center, and Nature Play for Pre-K at DNR Outdoor Adventure Center that occur monthly!
